Community Partnerships Manager

OUR MISSION: We grow demand for overnight travel to the Santa Barbara South Coast in order to enhance the region’s economy, and support a high quality of life for the community. YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS TO OUR MISSION: 1) You will support the organization by generating private source income through membership dues. Goals include member recruitment, retention and engagement. 2) You will serve as a contact to strengthen engagement between Visit Santa Barbara (VSB) and leisure and hospitality industry businesses in Santa Barbara, Goleta, Summerland and Montecito. This will include lodging, food and beverage, tours, attractions, retail businesses and more. 3) The Manager will assist the Director with industry events, career/job fairs, monthly member educational series, and destination training classes for hospitality workers. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Promotions • Elevate member promotions such as the “Third Night Free” and “Locals 30% Discount” lodging promotions to help grow room nights and generate revenue for participating properties. Common tasks could include: o Outreaching to hotels to solicit participation o Collecting/organizing member creative assets o Providing assets to VSB’s marketing team for website o Collecting monthly reporting from participants o Tracking offers and expiration dates; communicating website updates/changes internally Membership Education: • Provide education and added value to Visit Santa Barbara members through our monthly “Lunch and Learn” education sessions, and I Am Santa Barbara destination training for hospitality workers. Common tasks could include: o Draft email communications to businesses o PowerPoint coordination with the Creative Manager o Manage RSVPs and scheduling invitation sends/reminders o Order supplies, lunch/snacks; assistance with pick-up as needed o Meeting preparations and assistance at event including set-up & break down o Present a portion of the training o Post-event survey of participants and tracking/analyzing responses Hospitality Career Fairs • Help to manage career fairs/job fairs to assist leisure and hospitality businesses find job seekers and fill open positions. Common tasks could include: o Draft email communications to businesses o Manage event posting and RSVP, payments and refunds if applicable o Communication with exhibitors and other participating businesses o Order supplies o Event preparations and assistance at event o Post-event survey of participants and tracking/analyzing responses Industry Events: • Participate in the development of VSB’s larger membership events including Annual General Meeting and Tourism Outlook Forum. Common tasks include: o Draft email communications to attendees o PowerPoint coordination with the Creative Manager o Solicit event attendance and coordinate with public officials on rsvp’s o Build itineraries for keynote speakers including welcome amenities; assist with travel accommodations as needed o Create event playlists o Lead outreach of member donations o Manage event posting and RSVP, payments and refunds through 3rd party event platform o Communication with exhibitors and sponsors o Order supplies o Event preparations and assistance at event o Post-event survey of participants and tracking/analyzing responses Generate Membership Income: • Manage aspects of new membership sales and membership renewal including: o Present the value of membership through presentations, print collateral, and website content. Keep a record of outreach to prospective members. o New member onboarding: process membership application, Customer Relations Management (CRM) database updates and management, member dues invoicing and payment tracking, membership website listing management, member CRM extranet training, member correspondence • Manage/facilitate annual membership renewal process o Export membership list from CRM, development/deployment of email and letter communication, respond to inquiries, process payments o CRM: maintain accurate business and contact information, monitoring and updating account status, tracking membership dues payments Membership Retention: • Maintains positive relationships with membership in order to share the value of VSB services • Provides regular feedback to Director regarding member activities, views, ideas and concerns • Maintain complete and accurate membership records Reporting: • Manages project timelines for Visit Santa Barbara quarterly and annual reports; works closely with Creative Manager on production timeline • Issues requests to department Directors for content and metrics • Copywriting for the reports, writing the accompanying letter/email, editing/review content in collaboration with Director of Community Partnerships & Events Industry Newsletter: • Monthly industry newsletter development with tasks that include requesting content from directors, drafting/editing content, working with internal staff on the newsletter creation, review and distribution to membership QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor’s degree, or higher, in business, communications or a related field • Minimum 2 years of project management and/or event planning experience • Strong communication (written, verbal, and presentation) and customer service skills • Excellent prioritization and time management skills • Experience presenting/public speaking • Ability to manage multiple projects at once • Expert use of Microsoft Office suite • Strong administrative and collaborative skills • Knowledge of hospitality industry • Familiarity with the Santa Barbara South Coast • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision • Must be able to work in the Visit Santa Barbara office at least 3 days per week • Must have California Driver’s License and auto insurance • Able to travel in a limited geographical region • Must have use of vehicle while on VSB business • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. and transport VSB equipment and materials Compensation/Benefits and Classification: Visit Santa Barbara offers flexible work options (up to two remote days per week), fully paid medical insurance, paid sick and vacation leave and a 401(k) retirement plan with 3% company contributions. This is a full-time, hourly position based in Santa Barbara, California. Salary range is $65,000 - $70,000/year, commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience.
